La Fundació La Marató de TV3, a recognized non-profit organization, plays a crucial role in managing funds raised during the annual La Marató de TV3, a charitable event in Catalonia. Dedicated to financing medical research projects, the foundation has had a significant impact on improving the quality of life for those affected by various health conditions.

In the 2022 edition, focused on Cardiovascular Health, heart and vascular diseases emerged as the leading cause of mortality, accounting for one in four deaths in Catalonia. These conditions, affecting all ages and genders, underscore the critical importance of prevention, as symptoms can be unpredictable, and every second counts in saving lives.

 La Fundació La Marató de TV3 committed to advancing the knowledge and treatment of diseases, allocated funds to projects addressing cardiovascular issues. Two prominent projects received funding: the “Gen-X Project,” led by Jara Cárcel, aims to identify genetic factors associated with strokes and sex differences, while the “STOPPED-STROKE Project,” led by Israel Fernández, focuses on reversible epigenetic therapies to reduce stroke risk and halt biological aging.

Both projects aim to advance the identification of new therapeutic targets and pharmacological treatments. These efforts are essential for improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of stroke, contributing to reducing mortality and enhancing the quality of life for patients.
