Today, the Neurology Service of Hospital de Sant Pau has held its Annual Retreat, an event that has together professionals from across the department to reflect on achievements from 2024 and discuss perspectives for the coming year. The retreat has featured an engaging program of lectures, discussions, and collaborative activities aimed at fostering innovation and teamwork.

The event kicked off with an overview of the department’s milestones in 2024, followed by strategic planning for 2025. A central theme of this year’s discussions has been the significance of transversal research in advancing neurology and improving patient outcomes.

One of the highlights has been a roundtable discussion focusing on neuropsychology, exploring its pivotal role in monitoring and supporting patient progress. This session underscored the importance of integrating neuropsychological services into broader care plans to enhance the overall effectiveness of neurological treatment.

A particularly dynamic segment of the retreat has been a Hackathon, where multidisciplinary teams of neurologists, researchers, and other professionals have collaborated to develop innovative approaches to improving community neurology and translational research. The discussions emphasized the concept of “from bed to benchside,” highlighting the importance of translating clinical observations into research and vice versa for better patient care.

The retreat concluded with a compelling lecture by Dr. Josep Dalmau on autoimmune encephalitis, offering insights into the latest diagnostic and therapeutic advances in this complex condition.

This year’s retreat not only celebrated the department’s achievements but also set a collaborative tone for the future, emphasizing the value of teamwork, research, and a patient-centered approach in shaping the future of neurology.
