Members of our group had the privilege to attend the European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) held on May 15th, 16th, and 17th in Basel, Switzerland. The event was a hub of groundbreaking discussions and presentations in the field of stroke research and treatment.

One of the highlights was the fantastic stroke genomics session chaired by Israel Cadenas. The session showcased the incredible advancements genomics is making in understanding and identifying new therapies for stroke.

Paula Villatoro presented a poster with remarkable results from skin single-cell transcriptomic and blood proteomic analyses in CADASIL, adding significant insights into the conference’s rich tapestry of knowledge.

Cristina Gallego also captivated the audience with her poster presentation, which detailed intriguing findings from a stroke risk Epigenome-Wide Association Study (EWAS).

The cherry on top was Natalia Cullell receiving the Young Research Award for her outstanding contributions. Congratulations to Natalia Cullell for her exceptional talk on EWAS in early stroke outcomes, a testament to her dedication and innovative research in the field.

In addition to the scientific engagements, our group members took advantage of the breaks to explore the beautiful city of Basel, enriching their conference experience with cultural and leisurely activities.

The ESOC 2024 was an enriching event, providing our team with invaluable insights and inspiration for future research endeavors in stroke genomics and therapy development.
