On December 11th, the Institut de Recerca de Sant Pau hosted the first CADASIL Day, an event that brought together over 30 individuals, including researchers and patients, with the aim of sharing knowledge and advancements in this neurodegenerative disease.

Throughout the day, Dr. Elena Muiño, an expert in the field of CADASIL, took the floor to explain in an accessible manner what CADASIL is, providing patients and their families with a clearer understanding of how the disease operates and is inherited.

In addition, another member of the group, Paula Villatoro, provided an updated perspective on CADASIL research and its methodology. Attendees had the opportunity to delve into scientific progress and grasp the current state of research on this disease.

The event also featured a special participation by Dr. Ana Domínguez from the Hospital Virgen Macarena in Seville, addressing relevant clinical aspects of CADASIL and sharing information about potential neuroprotective developments.

The day concluded with a colloquium where patients and family members could express their concerns about managing the disease and its potential evolution. Dr. Elena Muiño played a key role in providing answers and guidance, offering support to those facing the challenges of CADASIL.

The inaugural CADASIL Day at the Institut de Recerca de Sant Pau proved to be a significant milestone, uniting the scientific community, patients, and families in a collaborative effort to advance the understanding and treatment of this rare and complex disease.
